How did you start this week?
Do you have a morning routine that sets you up for a Powerful and Productive day?
Or did you hit snooze a few times and check Facebook before you even said good morning to your family?
I’m asking because there is no denying that how we start each day sets the tone for the whole day to come! What we think about and focus on prior to going to bed and upon first rising in the morning are some of the most important thoughts you will have all day. Each day. Forever.
So listen, there is NO SHAME in wanting whatever it is that you want. A body like James Bond, a career with travel and perks and benefits and glamour, a huge following of loyal customers, an amazing lover, a deeper relationship with God.
I could go on and on…but you get the picture here.
There is no shame in wanting a great life full of laughter and love and happiness and freedom. Whatever that looks like to you, is perfect.
But my question to you today is, are you taking the steps to get it?
Do you have a routine and a schedule in place that is getting you those chiseled abs and greater sales?
In other words, are you being consistent in your actions with what you are telling yourself to do?
Holding OURSELVES accountable is tough.
Believe me, I have spent many an hour beating myself up over things I DIDN’T DO!
The concept of Internal Accountability is something that we tend to take for granted and it can get lost in the constant chatter of our minds.
We make excuses to ourselves.
We say we’ll do it later.
But remember, tomorrow never comes…it is always TODAY.
I see many people struggling with depression and anxiety simply because they are not doing what they say they are going to do.
They feel like they are never good enough, and they prove it to themselves over and over by NOT following up with what they tell themselves they are going to do.
Case in point; this morning I had plans to go to a HIIT class at 6am. I woke up on time. And I totally did not want to go.
It was dark.
My bed was warm.
I could just go later.
Blah blah blah.
And the chatter starts with justifications and Plan Bs….and I had to make a CONSCIOUS CHOICE to put my feet on the floor and DO what I said I was going to do.
How can I coach people towards healthy lifestyle habits and positive self talk if I don’t WALK MY TALK?
So, I put my feet on the floor, drink some coffee, eat some food, and go.
I KNOW intellectually that it is the BEST way to start my day. By exercising first thing I feel energized and mentally focused for hours! It is part of a morning routine that leads to a Powerful and Productive Day for me.
Maybe for you it is quietly meditating? Or reading an inspirational book?
Whatever it is, are you DOING it??
Are you cooking at home like you said you would, or have you been hitting the drive through again because of poor planning?
Are you following up on all those sales leads or just a few?
What are you so afraid of??
There is NO SHAME in wanting what you want.
The problem comes when you are not willing to do the work to get it.
Saying one thing and doing another creates a sense of incongruency within us…and it causes us to feel anxious, stressed, and depressed.
Internal accountability and self honesty are the answers.
This is the basis of all my Life Coaching conversations.
We determine WHAT you want, remove the shame and guilt for wanting it in the first place, and then figuring out a plan to get it.
But truly inspiring and fun.
You CAN create your life.
Set yourself up for success and let’s go!
